Plant & Machinery Recovery
On Every UK Motorway
Our plant and machinery recovery service handles non-road vehicles including diggers, excavators, forklifts, telehandlers, and other construction or industrial equipment. We use low-loader trailers and heavy-duty cranes to safely move plant that has broken down or needs relocating.

About Our Plant & Machinery Recovery Service
Plant and machinery recovery is a specialist discipline that requires heavy-duty equipment, skilled operators, and careful planning. Unlike road vehicles, plant and machinery come in a vast range of shapes, sizes, and weights, from compact mini diggers to 30-tonne excavators and beyond. Each recovery job is unique and requires a tailored approach based on the specific machine, its location, and the access available.
Our plant recovery fleet includes low-loader trailers in various configurations from 10-tonne capacity to 40-tonne capacity, suitable for everything from skid-steer loaders to large tracked excavators. We also operate HIAB crane vehicles for lifting smaller items of plant, and we have access to mobile cranes for particularly heavy or awkwardly positioned machines. All our operators hold the relevant CPCS and NPORS cards for the equipment they use, and they are experienced in working on construction sites where additional health and safety considerations apply.
Common plant recovery scenarios include machines that have broken down on site, tracked vehicles that have thrown a track, plant that has become stuck in soft ground, and equipment that needs relocating between sites. We also handle road traffic incidents involving plant being transported on trailers, and we can recover both the carrying vehicle and the plant itself. Our service is available 24 hours a day, which is essential for construction projects operating night shifts or facing tight deadlines. We provide a full quotation before starting any work, taking into account the machine type, weight, location, access constraints, and the destination for delivery.

What Is Included
What's Involved in Plant & Machinery Recovery
Moving a broken-down excavator or a seized telehandler off a construction site is nothing like recovering a car from a motorway hard shoulder. The machine may weigh anywhere from a couple of tonnes to well over 20, it may be in a position that no wheeled vehicle can easily reach, and the ground beneath it may be soft enough to make conventional loading dangerous without ground-bearing plates or timber matting. Our plant recovery team assesses each job individually: machine type, operating weight, track or wheel configuration, and the condition of the surface it is sitting on all influence which combination of low-loader, HIAB crane, or winch is the right approach. Our low-loaders range from units suitable for compact plant up to high-capacity trailers for larger tracked excavators and demolition equipment.
Thrown tracks are one of the most common plant recovery scenarios we attend. A tracked machine with one track off cannot move under its own power and needs specialist lifting equipment to reposition it before the track can be refitted and tensioned. On a site with restricted access, that often means bringing in a HIAB-equipped vehicle that can work in a tighter radius than a full mobile crane. For machines stuck in soft ground, a regular occurrence during wet weather on earthworks sites, we use snatch blocks and high-capacity winches to extract the machine before attempting to load it. Attempting to drag a bogged machine directly onto a low-loader without proper extraction first can damage the undercarriage or tip the trailer, so the sequence of operations matters.
Plant recovery on a live site means meeting the site's access and induction requirements and working safely alongside other trades, so our operators are familiar with the accreditations and procedures that main contractors expect. If the plant has broken down mid-shift and the site needs to keep running, we work around the programme as far as we can, clearing the machine from the working area as quickly as possible so other operations are not held up. For plant that needs transporting between sites rather than just recovered, we handle abnormal load permits and route planning where required.

What Our Customers Say
“Broke down at 11pm on the M25 near the Wisley interchange. Called these guys and they had a recovery truck with me in under 40 minutes. Professional, friendly, and the price was exactly what they quoted on the phone. Genuinely saved my night.”
“Ran out of diesel like an idiot between Luton and Milton Keynes on the M1. Pulled onto the hard shoulder near Junction 10 and called them. They delivered 10 litres of diesel within the hour and even checked my tyre pressures while they were there. No judgement, just helpful.”
“My van broke down fully loaded heading north on the M6 past Stoke. Other companies quoted ridiculous prices or said they could not do it until morning. These guys came out at 2am with a flatbed and sorted everything. Will not use anyone else.”
