About Our HGV Recovery Service
HGV breakdowns and incidents require a completely different level of expertise and equipment compared to standard vehicle recovery. Our specialist HGV recovery service is purpose-built to handle the unique challenges of recovering heavy goods vehicles weighing up to 44 tonnes and beyond. Whether it is a rigid lorry, an articulated trailer unit, or a multi-axle heavy haulage vehicle, we have the capability and experience to recover it safely.
Our heavy recovery fleet includes some of the most advanced equipment available in the UK. This includes rotator recovery vehicles capable of lifting and manoeuvring heavy loads in confined spaces, heavy underlift trucks for straightforward towing operations, and low-loader trailers for transporting non-driveable vehicles over long distances. We also carry an extensive range of ancillary equipment including heavy-duty winches, airbags, and crane attachments for complex recovery scenarios.
Every HGV recovery operation is carefully planned before any equipment is deployed. Our operators carry out a detailed risk assessment, considering factors such as vehicle weight, load contents, road conditions, and the proximity of other road users. We work closely with Highways England, the police, and traffic management companies to ensure that recovery operations are carried out safely and with minimal disruption to other traffic. Our team includes operators with ADR training for hazardous goods vehicles, ALLMI certification for lorry-mounted cranes, and extensive experience in cargo transfer operations. We understand the commercial pressures facing haulage operators, which is why we work quickly and efficiently to get your vehicle and load moving again as soon as possible.

What Is Included
What's Involved in HGV Recovery
Recovering a heavy goods vehicle is a different discipline from car or van recovery. The weights involved, anything up to 44 tonnes for a standard articulated combination, mean that the wrong equipment or the wrong technique can make a difficult situation far worse. Our heavy recovery fleet includes rotator recovery vehicles, rigid underlift units, and heavy-duty low-loaders; the choice of which to deploy depends on the vehicle's condition, its position on the road, and what the load is.
Before any equipment is rigged, the operator conducts a detailed risk assessment. This covers the vehicle's axle configuration, the weight and nature of the load, whether the trailer is coupled or separated, and the condition of the road surface and verge. On motorways, heavy vehicle incidents almost always require traffic management, we can deploy cones and lane management boards and will coordinate with National Highways' regional control centres through the established incident management process. For hazardous goods vehicles carrying ADR-classified materials, operators with the relevant ADR awareness training lead the assessment, and the fire service is informed as a matter of procedure if there is any risk of spillage.
Cargo transfer is one of the more technically demanding aspects of HGV recovery. When a lorry cannot be moved with its load intact, because of weight distribution, vehicle damage, or road conditions, the cargo must be transferred to a relief vehicle at the roadside. We carry equipment for this and work with specialist hauliers when the load requires licensed or abnormal-load movement. Response times for HGV incidents are typically longer than for cars, reflecting the need to dispatch the correct heavy unit from the nearest suitable location. A quote covering vehicle recovery, any cargo transfer, and traffic management is agreed before work starts.

What Our Customers Say
“Broke down at 11pm on the M25 near the Wisley interchange. Called these guys and they had a recovery truck with me in under 40 minutes. Professional, friendly, and the price was exactly what they quoted on the phone. Genuinely saved my night.”
“Ran out of diesel like an idiot between Luton and Milton Keynes on the M1. Pulled onto the hard shoulder near Junction 10 and called them. They delivered 10 litres of diesel within the hour and even checked my tyre pressures while they were there. No judgement, just helpful.”
“My van broke down fully loaded heading north on the M6 past Stoke. Other companies quoted ridiculous prices or said they could not do it until morning. These guys came out at 2am with a flatbed and sorted everything. Will not use anyone else.”
