About Our Flatbed Towing Service

Flatbed towing is widely regarded as the safest and most versatile method of vehicle transport. By carrying your vehicle entirely on the bed of our transporter, we eliminate any risk of tyre wear, suspension damage, brake wear, or drivetrain stress that can occur with traditional wheels-down towing. This makes flatbed towing the preferred choice for a wide range of vehicles and situations.

Flatbed towing is essential for certain vehicle types. Electric vehicles must be flatbed-recovered to prevent damage to their electric motors. All-wheel-drive vehicles should be flatbed-transported to avoid stress on the centre differential and transfer case. Lowered vehicles and cars with body kits may not have sufficient ground clearance for conventional towing. Vehicles with flat tyres, broken suspension, or seized brakes cannot safely be towed with wheels on the ground. In all these cases, flatbed towing is not just preferable but necessary.

Our flatbed fleet ranges from standard car carriers to heavy-duty units capable of transporting vehicles up to 5 tonnes. Each transporter features a hydraulic tilt bed or slide bed for easy loading, and we carry ramps, dollies, and winches for vehicles that cannot be driven onto the bed under their own power. Our operators are trained in proper vehicle securing techniques, using multiple tie-down straps at manufacturer-recommended points to ensure your vehicle remains completely stable during transit. We take particular care with low vehicles, using extended ramps to provide a gentle approach angle that avoids grounding. Whether you need a local flatbed tow or a long-distance transport, our flatbed service delivers your vehicle in exactly the same condition as we collected it.

What's Involved in Flatbed Towing

A flatbed transporter carries a vehicle entirely on its deck, with all four wheels clear of the road surface for the entire journey. This matters most when a vehicle cannot or should not be towed any other way: electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids must use flatbed recovery to protect the electric motor from back-driven current; all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicles risk differential and transfer-case damage if towed with any wheels rolling; and cars with seized brakes, blown tyres, or badly damaged suspension simply cannot be moved safely in any other configuration.

Loading is carried out using a hydraulic tilt or slide bed, which lowers the rear of the transporter to create a shallow ramp angle. For vehicles that cannot be driven aboard, our operators deploy a winch and guide the car up with wheel skates or dollies, keeping painted bodywork and vulnerable aerodynamic components well clear of the ramp edges. Extended ramps are carried as standard for sports cars and lowered vehicles with minimal ground clearance, these are fed under the sill line gradually, avoiding the kind of grounding that can crack splitters or catch exhaust systems.

Once on the deck, every vehicle is tied down at the manufacturer's specified anchor points using rated ratchet straps, with four-point securing as standard. The operator performs a final check before moving off and at each stop. Flatbed transport is available for both local and long-distance journeys, and capacity ranges from standard car-length decks to heavy-duty platforms rated for large SUVs and light commercials. Because the vehicle is never dragged or bounced, it arrives in precisely the same condition as it left, which is the only acceptable outcome.

Flatbed Towing FAQ

Why is flatbed towing better than conventional towing?
Flatbed towing carries your vehicle entirely off the ground, eliminating any risk of tyre, suspension, brake, or drivetrain damage. It is the safest method for all vehicles and essential for EVs, AWD vehicles, and cars with mechanical damage.
Can you flatbed a large SUV or van?
Yes, our heavy-duty flatbed transporters can accommodate vehicles up to 5 tonnes including large SUVs, vans, and some commercial vehicles. Please let us know the vehicle make and model when booking.
Is flatbed towing more expensive?
Flatbed towing may be slightly more expensive than conventional towing due to the larger vehicle and fuel costs involved. However, the price difference is modest and the added safety for your vehicle makes it excellent value.
Can a flatbed carry a car with very low ground clearance?
Yes, we carry extended low-angle ramps for vehicles with minimal ground clearance, such as sports cars with body kits or lowered suspension. We load these vehicles slowly and carefully to avoid grounding.
What happens if my car cannot be put into neutral for loading?
No problem. We use dollies or go-jacks to roll the vehicle onto the flatbed when the transmission is locked. Our operators deal with this regularly and have the right equipment on board.
Is my vehicle tied down during flatbed transport?
Absolutely. Every vehicle is secured with multiple ratchet straps at manufacturer-recommended points. We check the straps before departure, during the journey, and after arrival to make sure nothing has shifted.
Can a flatbed carry two small cars at the same time?
In some cases, yes. Our larger flatbeds can accommodate two small vehicles such as city cars or superminis on the same load. This can reduce the cost per vehicle if you need two cars moved from the same location.

What Our Customers Say

Broke down at 11pm on the M25 near the Wisley interchange. Called these guys and they had a recovery truck with me in under 40 minutes. Professional, friendly, and the price was exactly what they quoted on the phone. Genuinely saved my night.

Vehicle Towing

Ran out of diesel like an idiot between Luton and Milton Keynes on the M1. Pulled onto the hard shoulder near Junction 10 and called them. They delivered 10 litres of diesel within the hour and even checked my tyre pressures while they were there. No judgement, just helpful.

My van broke down fully loaded heading north on the M6 past Stoke. Other companies quoted ridiculous prices or said they could not do it until morning. These guys came out at 2am with a flatbed and sorted everything. Will not use anyone else.
