Older vehicles were built to tolerances and materials standards that bear little resemblance to modern manufacturing. Aluminium panels from the 1950s dent under pressures that would leave modern steel unaffected. Chrome trim can be marked by a synthetic strap touching it for thirty seconds. Running gear that has not moved in years can seize during an attempted recovery if the wrong technique is used. For these reasons, classic car recovery requires a completely different approach, and different equipment, from standard vehicle recovery.

For vehicles that can still roll, we use low-angle ramps and, where necessary, go-jacks or skates to manoeuvre the car onto the carrier without placing any force on body panels or bumpers. For completely static vehicles, project cars, barn finds, or classics with seized brakes, a controlled cable winch combined with skates or dollies allows the car to be moved without starting the engine or engaging the drivetrain. Tie-down straps are routed through dedicated jacking points or chassis members wherever possible, with padded sleeves protecting all contact surfaces. Enclosed transport is offered as standard, keeping the car shielded from road spray, stone chips, and weather during transit.

Many classic cars carry particular jacking-point or towing-eye configurations that are not obvious without prior knowledge of the model. A bubble-era unibody car may have no dedicated recovery lug at all; a pre-war vehicle may have a separate ladder frame where the only safe lift point is the front crossmember. Our operators take time to identify the correct attachment points before any weight is placed on the recovery equipment, and they will stop and re-assess rather than improvise if the vehicle's construction is unfamiliar. The destination can be a specialist restorer, a storage facility, an auction house, or your home, and the price agreed before we start covers door-to-door, with no variation on delivery.
