Before we attach any equipment to a fire-damaged vehicle, the driver assesses whether the vehicle is still hot and whether any re-ignition risk exists. We will not begin loading a vehicle that still has residual heat in the engine bay or interior without confirming it is safe to do so. Once the assessment is complete, the recovery method is chosen based on what the vehicle can actually withstand, often, this means loading it as a static unit on a flatbed transporter, using skates if the wheels are unserviceable, and taking care with any attachment points that may have been weakened by heat distortion.
